Former 49ers, Redskins GM reveals 'favorite player I ever drafted'

One of the strangest NFL storylines of this past offseason was the Washington Redskins abruptly letting go general manager Scot McCloughan.

But in his newfound free time outside of the league, McCloughan, who also served as the San Francisco 49ers GM earlier in his career, has spent tons of time interacting with fans on Twitter and answering their questions.

On Sunday, McCloughan admitted that running back Frank Gore is his favorite player he ever drafted:

McCloughan was the VP of Player Personnel for the 49ers in 2005 when they selected Gore in the third round of the NFL draft. The former Miami Hurricane has since rushed for over 13,000 yards in his career, most of which came during his 10 seasons with the 49ers.

I don’t know if this is the GM equivalent of picking which of your kids you love the most, but McCloughan’s candor via social media has been fun to watch, much like Gore’s Hall of Fame career.
