Some NFL players are given just a season to prove their worth, while others will receive a mulligan or two thanks to their draft slot. The honeymoon stage between a former top NFL prospect and their team eventually will come to an end if they are unable to work out their flaws or stay on the field.

Here are five early picks from the 2016 NFL draft who are headed for make-or-break seasons in 2018.

With solid speed, good footwork and natural hips that made him one of the top cover men in the SEC, it was easy to see why the Bucs were high on this former Gator. While many were concerned that Hargreaves’ height might limit him to playing primarily inside, Tampa obviously viewed him as a potential shutdown corner on the outside. That plan has yet to work out for the former top-15 pick.

With just one interception in two seasons, “VH3” has yet to live up to the hype, and has clearly played his best football in the slot. Tampa Bay drafted two corners in the second round of this year’s draft (North Carolina’s M.J. Stewart, Auburn’s Carlton Davis) to push Hargreaves, who has to take his game to another level if he wants to live up to the expectations of his draft slot.
